Our New Shop - Wellington, Geraldine, we've been everywhere man!

Posted on January 21, 2012 0 Comments

 Hi guys

I'm so sorry I haven't written in such a long time. But here it is....we are opening a new shop in Geraldine (where you say?) on February 6th - Waitangi Day!

Geraldine - oh Geraldine - is where one of our finest exponents of NZ music came from and was nourished. His name was Jordan Luck and through my poor attempts to get a book off the ground about him I have been inspired to open a shop in this cool cool town!

And for those of you that have those fond memories of Geraldine and your childhood, you won't  be disappointed. We will lavish you with our retro fun style including Jordan's earliest tracks and our own Goodnight Kiwi!

You can look forward to Valentines Day knowing that we will take care of you in South Canterbury and you can look forward to an Easter Egg hunt in Geraldine and in Ashburton prior to Easter. We may do Christchurch as well if you ask for it guys!

In the meantime Keep Cool Til After School and I'll post regularly and often.....
"oh and when you dance to our ten guitars!"

Lots of love and chocolate

Nadine

RUGBY RACING AND BEER, OH AND BULL RUSH CHOCOLATE!

Posted on September 10, 2011 0 Comments

Gudday you lot,

How are you doing in the big wide world out there. I say this because I only escaped my chocolate prison late last night in time to see Sonny Bill Williams (a New Zealand All Black Zeus) lose his shirt and now I'm back making enough rugby balls to feed all these 90 000 tourists hitting our shores.

So come and see us - we've gone a little nuts with the Rugby World Cup and have a stunning statue of Buck Shelford (another All Black God from the past) proudly adorning our window, with Give Em A Taste of Kiwi blaring out on the street. You get the picture! So come join the celebrations in our shop during the tournament!

Now as well as celebrating everything All Black we are also celebrating all things Romanian - as they were staying here recently and feasted on a fair bit of Bull Rush Chocolate while they stayed in little ole Ash Vegas - so expect great things from the boys!

We make rugby balls filled with caramel and marshmallow for all you supporters out there in every countries colours (even the Aussies spew yellow! Tee Hee!) and we have some commemorative six packs with Ritchie McCaw, Dan Carter and David Kirk's pretty faces on top of our wonderful chocolate.

We can pretty much do anything and do a lot of corporate guff as well, so give us a yodel and we'll make your event or party one to remember.

PS - For all of you in Dunedin we're bringing the ambulance down your way to watch Romania take on mighty England on the 24th September - if you need any chocolate just give us a yell!

Righto, kick it in the guts Trev, time to go make some more balls...ahem...rugby ones that is!

All together now! GIVE EM A TASTE OF KIWI, YOUR BETTER THAN THE REST! YAHOO!

Back from holiday cruise and on cloud 109 about our chocolate

Posted on June 30, 2011 0 Comments

So I went, the big PNO cruise ship, hubby, a coconut bra and 1900 other passengers - and yes, it was good but if you think that I forgot about chocolate you are completely wrong! Because, guess what? - there was a chocolate shop on board selling all things chocolate - including Toblerone (baaaah - didn't that go out with those that used to get cheap trips to Nouvelle Caledonia in the 80s) - Swiss boring chocolate with cows on the front (yawn!) but there was no gutsy tastes. NO BULL RUSH - so you need to tell these British sailing chums that we need to be in those shops! Now you can have a laugh - here I am, sailing the ocean in not much attire!

Lots of love to you all

Going Romania mad on Close Up last night!

Posted on June 02, 2011 0 Comments

Yes, it was us you saw last night, the strange girls in yellow shirts, with flags painted on our faces, all aglow for Romania - the team Ashburton is hosting for the Rugby World Cup.

The absolutely wonderful Abby Scott and her crew were on hand to record it all for Close Up - as we shared some chocolate shot cups filled with peach brandy for our marvelous community of Romanians.

All I can say is that those Romanians know how to celebrate! And we love them. There are plans afoot for dancers and all sorts when the team arrives.

In other news we are progressing on all fronts with our bars and individual chocolates. But, if you can't get them in your town yet, go and ask a retailer to get them in! Together we can get this brand nation-wide!

PS - Any ideas about flavours for Father's Day?

Stick with us!

Posted on April 25, 2011 0 Comments

So we got the message loud and clear - packaging, packaging, packaging - and now I'm going to order (if that's possible) he who must be obeyed to find us premium packaging ASAP.

In the meantime keep checking in on us - things are happening at such a rapid pace at the moment that everything is bound to have changed for the better each time you look.

Just remember - it's all about you the customer and your chocolate experience - I love the feedback - keep it coming, it forces me to get better, stronger, faster and more fancier!

Thanks for your custom guys, and keep it coming, as this is our New Zealand brand of chocolate - and you own it.

Lots of love

Naddy

My latest choc box purchase - she is a darling!

Posted on April 19, 2011 0 Comments

Isn't she a darling - this "Indian Sqaw" Chocolate Box that looks like it's from around the 1920s. I love collecting old choc boxes that I know people have lovingly kept their sentimental bits and pieces in - because the box reminds them of the joy that the chocolates in it gave them.

The loveliest part of collecting is on that rare occasion when you open the lid and you can still catch the faintest whiff of chocolate - wow - that's power for you! Imagine the family who had these - they probably sat around a fire on a cold winters night, and allowed themselves one each a week - it was not unheard of for a family to sparingly share the choccies out for a year from one box.

And that folks is our challenge - to give you an experience when we are developing our chocolate box - but please, forward me your photos of choc boxes you have and love or even ideas of what you would really want to see in a new box layout.

After all, this is our journey, and our Bull Rush Chocolate - help us get the next step right!

Lots of Easter chocolate kisses

Naddy

Listening to OMD's Electricity, thinking about chocolate boxes, easter eggs and lamenting the commercial nature of Easter - YEAH RIGHT!

Posted on April 16, 2011 0 Comments

It's 3pm on a wet Saturday afternoon and many of you are watching the telly, whilst eating our caramel marshmellow Easter Eggs and I have one thing to say to you.....PHOOEEEYYYY. Hmmmph - I haven't even got one spare to pig out on while I'm in the shop, starving, sleep starved and bunny crazed (you gotta admit - that photo above is damn funny, or may-be I just have a sick sense of humour!).

Well you will all be pleased to know that I have instructed he who must be obeyed (Kev from TKO Design for those of you that don't know) that next year we have to somehow make these eggs available nation-wide. Of course he just rolled his eyes (well it was a phone conversation so I'm not sure but I think I know him pretty well) and did that "Easter Eggs are so yesterrrrrrday" routine - but that was last week. This week he is converted. ALL POWER to you guys I say - your mouths and tummies have spoken. Say no to those CORPORATE bullies of the chocolate world and say hello to our foxy as delectable concoctions.

Now I've lost my train of thought - oh yes - look out tomorrow because he who must be obeyed instructed me to pay an absolute fortune advertising in the Sunday Star Times. But of course, he who must be obeyed, is now raving on again about getting our packaging up to standard - our chocolate he reckons is the best in NZ and possibly the world - but like our wonderful bar packaging we have an almighty great challenge to get the box packaging right - cue another arguement.

You see, I collect old chocolate boxes because I love their shapes, their smells and the fact that someone has lovingly kept their prize possessions in them. But we don't have that now - and I reckon our choccie box should be like that - but what do you think? He who must be obeyed just babbles on about cost, but to hell with cost - let's do this our way guys - what do you suggest?

Have a merry old chocolate filled weekend
